Why contrast matters over video

Lyrics sit over a moving camera and alerts. Low contrast text disappears against bright frames, so a ratio check catches problems before stream.

AA needs 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA needs 7:1. Combine a passing ratio with a readable size in the 12–96px range.

Local calculation, no upload

The ratio is computed in your browser from the two colors you enter. Nothing is uploaded.

Use a dark outline or background behind light text when the camera background is bright, rather than relying on color alone.

Use the tool

Enter a text color and background color to get the WCAG contrast ratio and AA/AAA result. Aim for 4.5:1 or higher and a readable size within 12–96px.

Frequently asked questions

What ratio should I aim for?

At least 4.5:1 for normal text (AA). 7:1 meets AAA and reads better over video.

Does font size matter too?

Yes. Large text passes at 3:1, and StreamLyric supports 12–96px. Bigger, high-contrast text reads best on mobile.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The check runs locally on the colors you type.
