If the plan is Free: Karaoke is disabled. If the track has word-level timing and Karaoke is enabled: word fill can run. If the track has only line timestamps: the current line can highlight, but words do not fill. If the track is plain text: show readable lyrics and do not invent a timeline.
Read the tree top to bottom. The first condition that matches decides the outcome, so a Free plan stops at the first branch no matter how good the track timing is.
What Karaoke actually needs
Karaoke is a word-level fill on the current line. It needs three things at once: the setting enabled, Trial or Pro access, and a source with word-level timestamps.
Line-level sync is not enough. It can move or highlight a whole row, but it cannot fill individual words. That is a different feature from Karaoke.
Where the timing comes from
Automatic mode prefers available timed sources on the YouTube Music page and may fall back to a client-side provider chain. Availability depends on the track, region, and provider.
This tool does not look up a song. It explains the rules so you can predict the result before you stream, without calling a lyrics API.
No fabricated fill
When timing is missing, StreamLyric shows readable plain text and does not animate a fake word-by-word fill. Accurate sync is preferred over coverage.
Enabling the setting on Trial or Pro does not create timestamps that the source omitted. If you need a traveling fill, you need a source that includes word-level timing.
