YouTube Music stays the player
Start and control the song in YouTube Music inside Chrome. Pause, seek, speed, and track changes belong there. StreamLyric reads that playback context; it is not a second music app.
If YouTube Music is paused, the Overlay should stay on the paused state. Driving the Overlay as if it were a player is the wrong model.
Follow pause and seek only when timing exists
Timed lyrics can advance with playback. Plain text remains readable but does not crawl a fake karaoke timeline. StreamLyric will not invent timestamps to look synchronized.
A remix, live cut, or regional catalog gap can return a different lyric type than the studio track. Empty is a valid result.
OBS is the output scene, not the source
OBS displays whatever the Overlay URL currently publishes. It does not fetch lyrics from YouTube, TikTok, or a gift database. If the Overlay is stale, inspect playback and the URL before blaming OBS layout.
You can send the composed scene to YouTube LIVE, Twitch, Kick, or TikTok LIVE. Those destinations are yours to configure. StreamLyric is not those products.
Playback rights are not Overlay rights
Listening in YouTube Music and publishing a live scene are different activities. StreamLyric does not license the recording or the lyric text.
Follow the rules that apply to your destination. Displaying lyrics in OBS does not make an unofficial stream official.
Step-by-step setup
- 01Keep the song playing in YouTube Music
Do not switch the audio source to OBS or a local file if you expect the Overlay to follow the Chrome tab.
- 02Confirm the lyric type before styling Karaoke
If the source is plain text, skip word-level fill. StreamLyric does not fabricate a timeline.
- 03Publish the Overlay to OBS as output only
Paste the private URL into a transparent Browser Source. OBS should not become the player.
- 04Prove pause, seek, and a song change
Those three actions show whether the Overlay is following YouTube Music or showing a frozen page.
